Yesterday, we talked about the importance of creative conflict among team members. I think this is extremely significant in the technical world. Last summer, when I interned at UBS AG, I noticed that my manager encouraged this in his own subtle way. When someone proposed something in a team meeting, my manager would encourage them to defend why their idea would work, and why it was significant. This allows all the team members to have an opinion on the topic at hand, and this inevitably leads to conflict. This helps iron out ideas and may even lead to more innovative solutions.
This is very important for the tech industry because their survival depends on their ability to deliver faultless software that is on the cutting edge of technology and also makes the user's experience more enjoyable.
